Meet Our Granite Distribution Team…
a/k/a the Suspects

The crime?… unauthorized granite relocation...

By spring, the native plants were thriving, the pollinators had returned, and the portions of the landscape we had completed so far were finally starting to feel established.

Unfortunately, we were also becoming increasingly aware that the pathway was becoming actively hostile!!

What originally seemed like a beautiful, natural-looking combination of moss rock and crushed granite slowly revealed itself to be a toe-stubbing obstacle course that was nearly impossible to wheelbarrow across and apparently the preferred decorative flooring choice of our suspects, who GENEROUSLY redistributed crushed granite throughout the entire house daily.

These pups could open a regional flooring supply chain with the amount of crushed granite they’ve tracked into the house!!!

Not to mention, we have a two-year-old granddaughter, and if I couldn’t walk down the pathway without nearly faceplanting, how was she supposed to?!!

Even though I was emotionally attached to the moss rock, we needed the landscape to actually function safely for the people (and puppies) we love.

SO…we tore it out and replaced it with the ever-popular flagstone…which, so far, appears significantly less interested in causing bodily harm! 😄

Well, there’s still grout to pour, raised beds to build, plants to move, and approximately 4,000 more wheelbarrow trips in our future.

At this point, I’m fairly certain the wheelbarrow has become a permanent member of the family.

The Wheelbarrow 😭

Anyhow, pardon the minor WB breakdown…

The project is still evolving daily, but little by little, the landscape is starting to feel a little less like a construction zone and more like the habitat we originally imagined.

We still have a long way to go, but at least the pathway is no longer actively plotting against us every time we walk through it!

And, of course, now that it no longer poses an immediate threat to human life, we can finally turn our attention to the massive fabric-covered VOID currently serving as a holding area for leftover rock, random materials, and what appears to be an active wheelbarrow parking lot!
